La investigación de las relaciones de poder y las redes de intereses puede llevar días y días de investigación e investigación periodística, especialmente si se trata de mucha información. Así que imagina hacerlo con millones de nombres o datos de identificación. Facilitar estas tareas es el objetivo de CruzaGrafos (https://cruzagrafos.abraji.org.br), un proyecto que Abraji también está lanzando para no miembros y asociados, en alianza con Brasil.IO.

Es un trabajo de más de un año realizado por los equipos de Abraji y el programador y activista por la transparencia Álvaro Justen, Turicas, con el apoyo de la Iniciativa Google News. En pocas palabras, CruzaGraphics es una herramienta gráfica de software libre para la verificación cruzada y la investigación avanzada de datos, al permitir visualizar relaciones en gráficos, que permiten la interconexión de información diversa en una especie de web.

La iniciativa pretende ser mucho más que eso al permitir que periodistas e investigadores investiguen grandes bases de datos, sin la necesidad de ser expertos en ciencia de datos. Los autores del proyecto entienden que el conocimiento y la comprensión de las grandes bases de datos públicas es una de las formas de mejorar el periodismo de investigación y el control social sobre gobiernos y empresas.

CruzaGrafos utiliza grandes fuentes de información abiertas en Brasil. El proyecto CruzaGrafo completó la implementación de datos para todas las empresas brasileñas registradas en la Hacienda Federal, actualmente 43,9 millones de CNPJ. Y también terminó con la inclusión de información sobre las candidaturas políticas para 2014, 2016, 2018 y 2020, un total de 1,1 millones de personas que se postularon para cargos públicos, según el Tribunal Superior Electoral (TSE). Así, considerando las empresas, sus socios y aplicaciones, el proyecto cuenta ahora con 70,7 millones de datos.

Se permite el acceso para no miembros y asociados de Abraji siempre que respondan este formulario y cumplan con los criterios a continuación. Dentro de las 24 horas (en días hábiles) se dará respuesta a la solicitud. Las personas que cumplan con los criterios de uso recibirán una contraseña por correo electrónico. El acceso es gratuito durante 30 días; después de eso, se le cobrará USD 5 por mes. Para los asociados y asociados de Abraji, el acceso a CruzaGrafos es gratuito.

Criterios para acceder a CruzaGrafos:

- No tener una relación profesional dependiente exclusivamente con partidos políticos, con cualquier órgano de los poderes Ejecutivo, Legislativo y Judicial o con entidades que promuevan el lobby empresarial

- De acuerdo con la declaración 1: No existen bases de datos perfectas o es raro encontrar una fuente completa de información sobre una persona o empresa de interés público. Entonces, lo que construimos con CruzaGrafos es una gran posibilidad para encontrar pautas e información relevante, pero eso debe complementarse con  más verificación

- De acuerdo con la declaración 2: No existe valoración de mérito del contenido de las bases de datos por parte de CruzaGrafos, Abraji, Brasil.IO o los profesionales involucrados en este proyecto. La sospecha de mala conducta debe verificarse con fuentes y más información y el hecho de que alguien sea investigado no significa que sea culpable. Todos los datos deben ser verificados, incluso con los políticos y empresas mencionados. Siempre se debe tener cuidado con las personas y empresas del mismo nombre

- De acuerdo con la declaración 3: El equipo de CruzaGrafos no brinda, en ningún caso, ningún tipo de asesoría, consultoría o asesoramiento legal cuando estas actividades tengan como procuradores partidos políticos, cualquier organismo del Poder Ejecutivo, Legislativo y Judicial o provenientes de entidades que promuevan el lobby empresarial
