What ADA does:
If it’s happening in Downtown Albany, the Albany Downtown Association is likely a part of it! ADA was formed in 1982 and includes about 25 blocks of our historic Downtown (Water to 5th and Calapooia to Railroad). The goal of ADA is to help make Historic Downtown Albany a great place to eat, shop, play as well as live, work and visit!
Following the proven track record of the four point Main Street Approach, ADA staff and countless volunteers dedicate themselves in the following areas:

·  Organization: This committee oversees communications with business and property owners, employees and the public through our website and other avenues. Holds fundraisers and partners with other organizations. They also plan the budget for the fiscal year.

·  Promotion: The Promotions Committee markets the Downtown and organizes a number of activities designed to draw locals and visitors into Downtown. Events include Restaurant Week, Crazy Daze, Movies at Monteith, Downtown Trick or Treat, Downtown Unwrapped and the Downtown Twice Around Christmas Parade.  We partner with other organizations on the Rotary Wine Walk, Procession of the Species, Summer Passport Program, Mid-Valley Brewfest, and Craft Brew Smackdown.

·  Design: The Design Committee works to beautify Downtown with flower baskets, banners, Parklets, window makeovers and snowflakes.  We partnered with CARA to install wayfinding signage. In partnership with the Scouts, ten times a year nearly 100 American flags are displayed Downtown.

·  Economic Vitality: This committee reaches out to potential businesses to open or relocate in Downtown. We also advise businesses looking for space to rent and give information on CARA and Main Street programs and provide contacts with appropriate City departments.  Free seminars are offered to member businesses to add skills and improve their bottom line.

Encouraging Out-of-Area Visitors to Discover What Makes Downtown Albany a Great Place to Visit:

ADA is active in telling our unique story, partnering with the Albany Visitors Assoc., Downtown museums, restaurants and retail to give visitors an authentic, historic, one-of-a-kind Downtown experience.

ADA works with Downtown merchants to help promote Albany statewide and beyond such as hosting conferences including the 2018 Oregon Main Street Downtown Revitalization Awards and the 2014 Oregon Heritage Conference. Each event introduced 300+ participants to Albany’s historic buildings including the Albany Regional Museum, Historic Carousel & Museum, Flinn Block Hall, Masonic Hall, and the Whitespires and United Presbyterian Churches. They enjoyed dining downtown and food catered by Novak’s, Sybaris, Sweet Red, First Burger, Deluxe Brewing, and The Growler Garage. Other conferences that maximize their time in Downtown include Mid-Winter Square Dance Festival and the Watercolor Society of Oregon.

The trolley/bus shuttle from the hotels and Expo to Historic Downtown is especially effective in enhancing these experiences and exposing our local businesses to new customers.

These conferences would not choose our area if not for our authentic Historic Downtown and the work of organizations like the Albany Downtown Association.
