About the class:
Hood Herbalism is a community based herbal education project for people of color based out of Lynwood, CA and the San Gabriel Valley, CA. It is a space where people learn useful herbal medicine making skills that can help support their health and the health of those around them. Our space also supports people in connecting with their own ancestral healing traditions related to plants and herbal medicine. Beyond the classes, Hood Herbalism is contribution to a growing movement of decolonizing body, mind, and spirit that is centering plant knowledge while having the wellness of our communities in mind. We host classes in different communities across the LA, OC, Inland Empire, and San Fernando Valley. We have also traveled to Oxnard, DC, and San Diego. The class is 4 weeks long and it is ideal for people just starting their journey engaging with plants and/or folks that need space to depend their relationship with plants. Throughout the class series, you will be exploring your own curiosity and taping into the frequency of healing life in all the plant ancestors we will be engaging with.

About the Facilitator:
I am a queer yerbera who was born in Mexico and grew up in El Monte, CA. My class facilitation style is very hands on, collective, and engaging. In learning spaces that I facilitate, I share what I know and I am also super invested in providing a mutual learning experience where people are encouraged to share their own knowledge and contribute what they know. I have been facilitating spaces for over 10 years and have been doing skill shares in the community consistently for the last 7 years. I also have a background in teaching and restorative justice so I am excited to be combining all these skills in the curriculum and learning space we will create together. If you have more questions about what I do, feel free to visit my website
