Spring '23 Forge Skills Course Enrollment
This sign up form for Forge Skills Courses is open until 11:59pm Thursday, February 16. All skills courses will meet once a week for 8 weeks from Sunday, February 19 to Sunday, April 23 (no classes the 2 weekends of spring break). All courses don't require any background knowledge* and will be held in person at the Forge House at 9 Elliewood Ave on the corner. All courses are $135**, but we have a no questions asked financial aid policy for students that applies to. Course dues will be due the second week of courses (Sunday, February 26).

Skills Courses offer a unique opportunity to learn anything from branding to web development to machine learning in just 8 weeks. The classes include:

Source (Software Engineering): In Source, you will learn how to build interactive web application using ReactJS. You'll learn both front-end and back-end programming, enabling you to work with external data passed in through APIs. Source begins with a hands-on overview of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, but quickly moves into building web applications by combining the three languages. This course is designed for all students*. Course Time: Sunday 11am-1pm

Node (Data Science): In Node, you'll learn the art and science of understanding, manipulating, and effectively using data. You'll also learn how to visualize your data and findings to share with those around you. At the end of this course, you will know how to build powerful machine learning models to gain insights from data as well as data visualization using Python, Pandas, and Matplotlib. This course is designed for all students*. Course Time: Sunday 1pm-3pm

Quantify (Financial Data Analysis): In Quantify, you will learn how to create financial models, like DCFs and Comparative Analysis, for any company or industry based on their financial reports. You'll also learn how to analyze a company's previous stock data, create visualizations and glean insights about future price trajectories. At the end of this course, you will have a greater understanding of investments using financial modeling and data analysis in Excel and Python. This course is designed for all students. Course Time: Sunday 1pm-2:30pm

Convert (Digital Marketing): Convert functions as an introduction to digital marketing that equips students with core marketing principles, skills, and tools. You'll learn about paid and organic social media marketing, search engine and website optimization, email marketing tools, how to build successful pitch decks, and the basics of design. Each group will be paired with a local Charlottesville business at the Dairy Market as a marketing consultant to create a marketing strategy for their company and present it to their team. This course is designed for all students. Course Time: Sunday 3pm-5pm

* For those looking to take Source or Node with no coding experience, we recommend attending the free intro to coding workshop at the clubhouse on February 12 from 1-2:30pm or watching the recording.
