Join the Fort Wayne Youtheatre team as a Youtheatre Summer Camp Assistant and gain hands-on experience in leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while making a real impact on youth in our community. As a Youtheatre Summer Camp Assistant, you'll gain hands-on experience in a creative, fast-paced environment, working alongside Youtheatre staff, Teaching Artists and fellow assistants.

This unpaid position is ideal for high school students looking to develop real-world skills, gain volunteer experience, and have an unforgettable summer in a creative environment! However, college students seeking an internship for academic credit are also welcome to apply.

Requirements:

📅 Must be available for the entire duration of the camp
🎭 Passion for theater, working with children, and creating a positive camp environment
🙌 Willingness to assist Teaching Artists, help manage group activities, and support campers
📌 Must be entering 8th grade or higher to apply (6th grade or higher welcome for our Beginning Stages and FPT's MAD2 camp)

Fort Wayne Youtheatre hosts multiple summer camps, and assistants are required to commit to the full duration of any camp they choose. Please review the detailed list below, then indicate which camps you are interested in assisting with.

MAD2 Camp (hosted by First Presbyterian Church): June 2-6, 2025

  • Camper Grade Level: K-2
  • Time Commitment: 8:30am - noon, Monday - Friday
  • Final Performance: June 6th at 6pm

Beginning Stages Camp: June 9-13, 2025 - ASSISTANT POSITIONS FILLED

  • Camper Grade Level: K-2
  • Time Commitment: 9:30am - noon, Monday - Friday
  • Final Performance: June 13th at 11:30am

Let's Put On A Show! (in collaboration with Embassy Theatre): June 9-20, 2025 - ASSISTANT POSITIONS FILLED

  • Camper Grade Level: 2-5
  • Time Commitment: 10am - 2pm, Monday - Friday
  • Final Performance: June 20th at 7pm

Musical Theatre Camp (Session 1): June 16-20, 2025

  • Camper Grade Level: 5-12
  • Time Commitment: 10am - 2pm, Monday - Friday
  • Final Performance: June 20th during camp hours

Musical Theatre Camp (Session 2): June 23-27, 2025

  • Camper Grade Level: 5-12

Acting Camp (Session 1): July 7-11, 2025

  • Camper Grade Level: 3-6 and 7-12
  • Time Commitment: 10am - 2pm, Monday - Friday
  • Final Performance: July 11th during camp hours

Acting Camp (Session 2): July 14-18, 2025

  • Camper Grade Level: 3-6 and 7-12
  • Time Commitment: 10am - 2pm, Monday - Friday
  • Final Performance: July 18th during camp hours
