Do you get excited about exploring biology and sharing what you've learned with others? Are you interested in writing for a developing YouTube channel?

Complexly, the company behind SciShow and Crash Course, is looking for a freelance writer for an upcoming show on human biology, as related by a Black woman in STEM. This series is a mix of bio-explainers and science lessons blended with music and sketches, and explorations of the intersection of science, race and culture. You’ll be writing entertaining and educational scripts that explore human biology through a cultural lens and our collective similarities and differences.

We’re looking for science communicators who are pop culture and social media savvy. Experience blending comedy with science, writing for internet audiences, and knowledge of culturally relevant science communication approaches is especially welcome. You should feel comfortable researching utilizing academic papers, books, historical artifacts, primary sources, and expert interviews. You’ll work closely with the host, producers, and the Complexly team to pitch, plan, and execute scripts. Being able to communicate with the team daily, accepting critical feedback, and meeting deadlines are essential parts of working cohesively with our team.
