Our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is volunteer-run and aims to improve the school experience for our teachers, students and families. There's a place for YOU. We need your talents, gifts and efforts.

Our bylaws state that Old Town Elementary School PTA Board members must exercise duty of care (ex: complete PTA training, attend all PTA meetings, prepare report for meetings), duty of loyalty (ex: present a united front, maintain confidentiality), and duty of obedience (ex: abide by policies and procedures set forth by Texas PTA).

Please take time to nominate yourself or others who could enhance our community.

Officer Roles (Elected)

President: Prepares agendas and runs board and membership meetings. Liaison with school administration. Leads PTA Board in achieving stated goals and objectives.

1st Vice-President (Membership/Site-Based): Recruits new members and submits monthly data into online Texas PTA reporting system.

2nd Vice-President (Fundraising): Oversees all existing PTA fund raising activities by assisting committee chairs with program organization, budgeting and continuity. Recruit and support committee chairs for key fund raising events.

3rd Vice-President (Programs/Publications): Schedules and coordinates enrichment programs throughout the year, publicizes and promotes participation. Oversees the publication of Yearbook, Teacher Hospitality events and Reflections program.

Treasurer: Keep accurate records of all funds received and disbursed, prepare monthly financial reports, maintain files for annual financial reconciliation and lead budget committee.

Secretary: Maintains PTA records and documentation and takes accurate minutes at all Board and Membership meetings.

Committee Positions (Appointed)

Communications - PTA Web/FB/Insta/Digital Newsletters: Creates content for sharing relevant information on PTA events. Creates digital media to share with membership.

Literacy Library Chair: Maintains the PTA sponsored Literacy Library and coordinates the use of materials with OTE staff.

Community Fun Events Coordinator: Coordinates and promotes partnerships with area restaurants and businesses to host periodic "Spirit Nights" and family events.

Business Sponsorships: Leads effort to procure donations and sponsorships;

Spirit Wear Coordinator: Coordinates designs, printing, and sales of school spirit items.

Carnival Coordinator: In charge of planning and executing one of our most popular family events of the year! Excellent planning and organization skills required.

Hospitality: One of our staff's very favorite volunteers! This person is in charge of organizing the fun events that we do for our staff throughout the year.

Yearbook Coordinator: Coordinates annual school yearbook. Responsible for the design and compilation of Yearbook with vendor to create final yearbook.

Reflections Coordinator: Leads Reflections program (Fall deadline). In charge of reviewing the Texas Reflections Art contest rules/categories. Submits student entries to the appropriate contest contact per the instructions.

Clothes Closet: Coordinate with RRISD Clothes Closet to provide monthly volunteers and also solicit donations for the Clothes Closet.

Holiday Shop Coordinator: Coordinate the December holiday shop where students have the opportunity to buy small gifts for their family and friends.

Variety Show Coordinator: Coordinate the yearly talent/variety show for 3-5 grade students.
