GU Politics Student Strategy Team Application - Fall 2019
Thank you for your interest in serving on an Institute of Politics and Public Service Student Strategy Team! Student Strategy Team (SST) members are critical to the Institute’s flagship Fellows Program. As a member of a Strategy Team, you will be a part of a select group of students assigned to one of our Fellows – some of the top names in politics, government, and media – for the semester. Fellows will serve as a mentor to you and your team, and students will serve in a support role to their Fellow – it’s an incredible opportunity to work one-on-one with some of the most respected practitioners in politics and public service.

The Student Strategy Team time commitment is approximately 6-8 hours a week and the responsibilities include:

- Assisting your Fellow with preparations for their weekly discussion groups (e.g. conducting research, compiling background materials, talking through ideas)
- Publicizing and promoting the weekly discussion groups and Fellow's office hours in creative ways to the campus community, coordinating all communications through GU Politics Staff
- Attending each of the eight discussion groups for your Fellow and ensuring strong attendance
- Joining weekly meetings (to be determined based on team's schedule) with your Fellow and the rest of your team to prepare for discussion groups
- Running all aspects of the discussion groups (e.g. arriving early for set-up, checking in guests, keeping
time, setting up A/V equipment, preparing discussion group questions)
- Collaborating with other student groups to organize events and activities for your Fellow, including help in promoting your Fellow's Office Hours
- Participating fully in end of term activities that include a Fellows' farewell in the afternoon on Friday, November 22, 2019

Each SST will also have a Team Leader. Team Leaders must have previously served on an SST, and responsibilities include:

- Coordinating SST activities and operations between team members
- Attending weekly Team Leader meetings with GU Politics staff
- Leading weekly meetings for your SST without your Fellow

Thank you for completing this form no later than 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 8, 2019. Along with submitting this form, please send your resume to Paula Pecorella (paula.pecorella@georgetown.edu). Decisions will be made no later than Tuesday, September 17, 2019 and discussion groups will start the week of September 23rd.

Note: All Student Strategy Team members will be expected to be present for three orientation/initial meetings at the beginning of the semester. The first is scheduled for Wednesday, September 18, 2019 from 8:30 am - 9:30 am for an SST Orientation with GU Politics staff. The second and third will be scheduled with your Fellows and other SST members based on your schedule but must be completed before discussion groups begin the week of September 23, 2019 (these may occur prior to the larger orientation).
