The purpose of this survey is to receive input from the community on the needs of the low-income population and migrant and seasonal farmworkers. Information obtained from this survey and community meetings held throughout the county will be used to develop program activities and services to be provided under Central Valley Opportunity Centers (CVOC’s) 2024/2025 Community Services Block grants (CSBG). Information gathered during this Community Needs Assessment process may also be used in the development of CVOC’s Strategic Plan. Please complete and submit no later than April 30, 2023. CSBG funds can be used to support the following services and activities:
Employment/Employment Supports/ Education: Programs which provide assistance in obtaining employment, On-the- Job Training, Assistance in obtaining needed services which support employment and or training for employment. Occupational/Vocational job skills training, English-as-a-Second Language Instruction, General Education Diploma (GED) Instruction, Remedial Education.
Community Improvement/Revitalization: Projects which increase or preserve community resources such as child care centers, projects which preserve housing such as weatherization and home repair, projects which support or improve health care services, food, transportation service and others.
Income Management Activities: Financial and Budget Counseling, savings account information, Assistance in applying the energy/telephone bill discount programs.
Expanding Community Resources: Projects which identify agencies which provide services or funding for services, program development and coordination of services with various agencies such as churches, other non-profits, city and county government, schools, colleges and others.
Emergency Assistance: Assistance with food, clothing, housing (rent assistance), energy bills, car and home repairs, emergency medical care, emergency shelter, transportation, legal assistance, disaster relief and other services of an emergency nature. Information and referral services, public education workshops.
Family Self Sufficiency: Family counseling, family plan development, crisis intervention, case management services, assistance with income concerns through development of plan to increase/maintain family income.
