Afro-Brazilian Arts camp is a five-day journey through the history, culture, mythology & practice of Capoeira, Samba, and Afro-Brazilian dance - dynamic manifestations of African culture that took shape in Brazil during it's 500 year history as a nation. Activites include...
Capoeira - a thrilling fight-like dance and dance-like fight, that combines music, martial arts, dance & acrobatics in a game of skill and trickery...
Samba & Afro-Brazilian Dance - joyful expressions of the history & cultures of Afro-descendent peoples that celebrates nature, movement, song and rhythm...
Music - students will learn songs and play instruments that inspire us to move, play and dance together...
Language - daily lessons in Portuguese, practicing key vocabulary that we use daily in class and sing in our songs...
Arts and Crafts - drawing, painting & jewelry-making
Yoga - breathing exercises, stretching and strengthening, meditation and focus
program details
• Three sessions to choose from:
- July 8-12
- July 22-26
- August 5-9
• Monday-Friday from 9-3
• Ages 6-12
• No prior experience is necessary
• Base Cost is $400/session or $650 for two sessions-
no family will be turned away for financial limitations - fellowships are available to meet your family's budget,
