Henry is an amazing school, but we need your support to offer additional great opportunities for our children. Please look at the following list of activities to see if there is one or many items you can support. Some can be done from home and many are done on the weekend or the evening. If you have questions about volunteering please reach out to Kariroehr@gmail.com (Volunteer Coordinator).

We also need volunteers for the class parties.

5th Grade Activities

(Chairperson: Still Needed - email kariroehr@gmail.com if interetsed)

5th grade parents are needed to help plan the special events for our 5th graders that take place in May: Fishing Day, a picnic, and the 5th Grade Celebration.

Book Fair

(Chairpersons: Jeanette Wynne and Angela Phillion)

The PTO assists with a Scholastic Book Fair twice a year which raises resources for our school library. Volunteers are needed to help with setup, student previews, book fair attendants, and fair breakdown/pack-up. All book fair volunteers must be Approved Parkway District Volunteers.

Community Service

This committee conducts several projects throughout the year to benefit those in our community.

Dad's Club

(Chairperson: Jose Artiaga)

All Henry Dad’s are invited to join the Dad’s Club. The group meets socially, helps with PTO events throughout the year, prepares and serves food at events and organizes various activities, if they choose to.

Field Day Coordinator - Chairman Needed

This individual will build, promote, and manage the scheduling (thru sign-up genius) of the Parkway approved parent/adult volunteers for the Henry Field Day - scheduled for May. You don't need to figure out the games/stations, the PE teachers will do that.

Fine Dining Day

(Chairperson: Abby Smith)

Volunteers for this special lunch day transform the cafeteria into a restaurant; students are invited to dress up for this “fine dining” experience.

Hospitality

(Chairperson: Carly Taube)

The PTO likes to treat our wonderful teachers and staff to meals and treats throughout the year. Volunteers provide food items for two dinners on Parent Teacher Conference Nights and for other fun celebrations throughout the year.

Multicultural Night

(Chairpersons: Jose Artiaga)

Help organize the event, collect food donations, coordinate entertainment, and decorations for this celebration of the cultures of our school.

Reader In Me

(Chairpersons: Kate Karagiannis)

The PTO sponsors this program to encourage our students to read outside of school. Volunteers are needed a couple morning a month from around 8:50 - 9:45 to distribute prizes for those who reach various reading levels. Younger siblings are welcome to tag along. You must have gone through the background check & other requirements to volunteer in this capacity.

Restaurant Nights

Help Call on various restaurants to see if they are willing to support Henry with a restaurant night. Some suggestions will be provided or you can share your own ideas. This can be done from home on your own time.

School Beautification

This group keeps our school looking beautiful. This can be done during the school day or evenings and weekends.

STEAM Night

(Chairperson: Tamara Welliver)

This event combines science, technology, engineering, art and math for your Henry students.

Teacher Appreciation

(Chairperson: Carrie Chapman & Sara Jaeger)

During the first week in May support various activities that show teachers how much they are appreciated.

Trunk or Treat

(Chairperson: Dan Kane)

Help with this family-fun event on October 21st (a Saturday).

Trivia Night

(Chairperson: Jenn Thompson)

This is the PTO’s biggest fundraiser of the year held on January 27th.

Acquire Auction items for Trivia Night Event

(Chairperson: Kari Roehr)

A list of businesses will be provided to you and you just need to reach out several times via email, in person (if necessary), or via an online form. We just ask you to try your best - every year it varies on who is willing to donate. This work is done in the fall.

Yearbook

(Chairperson: Lisa Hessel)

Volunteers are needed to help with basic formatting/proofing of pictures and pages. No prior experience is needed and it can be done from home.

Library

(Teacher: Mrs. Goyal)

Volunteers check out books to students and teachers, shelve books and sometimes do other projects for the Librarian. Volunteering in the library is a great way to interact with students during the school day. NOTE: This volunteer position requires you to be an Approved Parkway District Parent/Adult Volunteer (background check and other items).

Nurse

(Nurse: Mrs. Munch)

Assist the School Nurse on health screening days (These individuals must be Approved Parkway District Parent/Adult Volunteers & specific to this nurse volunteer list.)
