In May 2024, I will embark on a 4,500-mile cycling journey across North America with 80 other students from UT Austin as a part of Texas 4000 for Cancer. Over 70 days, we will cycle from Austin, TX to Anchorage, AK, and complete the longest annual charity bike ride in the world. We hope to educate communities on cancer prevention, listen to the stories of those touched by cancer, and spread hope to communities across America.
Every year each rider is responsible for individually fundraising $4,500, a dollar per every mile ridden. Please consider helping me reach my fundraising goal by ordering the "Dear Alaska," crewneck sweatshirt.
A little about the symbolism of the design (generously donated by my friend Jackie Magno)
Dear Alaska,
like my why I ride, is an homage to my loved ones. The two pets mounted on the bike represent my ride dedications. The fluffy dog is my Great Pyrenees, Mulan. Mulan, on the sweatshirt, represents my best friend Hector who passed away from Leukemia in 2018. I ride for Hector and his family. The green-eyed cat is a close friend’s pet, Jiji. Jiji commemorates the memory of my friend’s late mother. I am honored to ride for their family.. and for all of you.
I ride for my Papi Pi, for Tia Santos, for Tia Olga, for Pedro, for Tico, for Layo, for Tia Aurelia, for Abuela María..
We are biking for those who cannot, and for those who live daily with the possibility that they may not be able to do so tomorrow.
