OMI Discretionary Seed Grant Applications
The Office of Metropolitan Impact (OMI) is currently distributing 2019-2020 Discretionary Engagement Funds and invites rolling applications from all faculty interested in obtaining funds to support and/or augment unique and/or innovative engagement activities. Through this grant opportunity, OMI seeks to support a wide array of activities and projects that promote community engagement strategies.
Purpose
To contribute to the building of knowledge and skills related to innovative, interdisciplinary and integrated community engagement strategies. To make it easy for faculty to cover expenses such as books, travel, production or exhibition costs, software, data collection, payment of subjects, or other types of support needed to complete the activity or project.
Eligibility
Tenure track, non-tenure track, clinical, research, and library faculty, as well as staff, are eligible to submit applications on an as needed basis. Awards will be reviewed within 15 days of receipt of application and will be granted to new or existing activities.
OMI is committed to supporting work in which faculty come together for cross-disciplinary exchange. To that end, priority will be given to proposals that include faculty from multiple disciplines.
Terms of the Award
Discretionary Community Engagement Funds may be any amount ranging from $50 to $500 and are designed to provide support for such activities as: hosting expenses; guest speaker fees; books; travel/transportation; workshops, events, and/or registration and ticket fees; production and exhibition costs; software and minor equipment purchases; data collection; payment of subjects; and/or other organizational needs and activities as they emerge from an existing or new engagement activity or project. Your budget should explain and detail exactly how the funds will be spent; invoices or receipts to be reimbursed are preferred. Please document any other funding sources you will be utilizing, as Discretionary Community Engagement Funds should not account for more than 50% of your budget. Faculty may only be awarded discretionary funds once per semester.
