Name:

GUTH NAN SIARACH is the group name.

About us:

Guth nan Siarach is an independent community activism group established in 2021.

We are activists for:

The establishment of Urras nan Gaidheil as quickly as possible and per the recommendations of O' Giollagain et al (2020).
The raising of the legitimate concerns of the Vernacular Group in equity with those of other Gaelic groups.
Guth nan Siarach is an open, independent group who seek the support of, and are willing to give support to all Vernacular Gaels to raise their voices with regard to their own needs.

Membership:
We are an open and non-hierarchical group. Anyone who is a Vernacular Gael with ties to the Western Isles can join us if they support our aims.


Responsibilities of members:

Supporting and sharing social media posts.
Writing letters to politicians that support our policies for Gaelic in the Western Isles.
Writing articles for newspapers and websites to support the policies of the group, in Gaelic and in English.
Supporting our activism through preparing media as per your skills.  
Activism and lobbying at national and local level is an important responsibility for members.
We meet at least monthly to agree steps to promote this public debate.


Meetings:

An Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place annually where our Annual Report will be delivered. Meetings will be kept regularly online throughout the year. All members are welcome to attend and contribute.


Equity:

We offer and promote equity within the group. We do not tolerate prejudices with regard to birth or race, colour, belief, gender, or sexual orientation.


Language Policy:

Meetings are conducted through Gaelic.
