KSC-CRA Digital Installation Design Survey

Digital art installations are very popular because of the way they engage onlookers. The Kings-Soutel Crossing Community Redevelopment Area (CRA) was created to jumpstart workforce housing, retail and commercial development in Northwest Jacksonville. The CRA’s Board recognized Public Art is a tool in increasing livability and economic opportunity in Northwest Jacksonville and engaged the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville (CCGJ) to determine the ideal artform to implement. A CCGJ area survey identified a desire by the community for a video and light installation in the area.

CCGJ is pleased to announce a digital projection public art project at the Legends Community Center funded by the CRA Board, where projection equipment will be mounted to the top of the overhang at the Center's entrance, and directed onto the gymnasium to project abstract animations and historical vignettes. The display will be visible for 2 hours each night beginning this Fall 2024 for the next three years.

WE INVITE YOU TO PARTICIPATE! We want to recognize other local African American trailblazers and their contributions in this vibrant and colorful display in order to inspire others to trailblaze throughout their own journey! Please participate in the below survey to inform the digital installation's design. Your responses will be shared with the Art/Design Agency (Castano Group) who is designing the installation. We appreciate your contribution!
