ABOUT PEEK SHOW

An informal and exciting experience between artists and patrons, all discovering new stories and worlds for the first time. Impulse Theatre showcases new works from local performing artists spanning text, dance, to somewhere in-between. Peek Show fosters creative connections between Victoria's performing artists and audiences, and sparks momentum within the community.

Peek Show #8 takes place online in the homes of patrons and artists! We are currently considering streaming platforms as we adapt to this new presentation style.

Impulse Theatre lives and creates on the traditional and unceded territory of the Lekwugen Speaking Peoples, now known as the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations.
 

THIS APPLICATION:

We are seeking five to six in-development works from local performing artists/companies/collectives.

Adjudication is based on your demonstration of ability to execute the project, artistic history, and available resources. Priority is granted to multidisciplinary projects.

Please note: you will be broadcasting from your own devices and home.

IMPULSE PROVIDES:

- a 10 minutes performance slot (scheduled at our discretion) during the 8pm performance
- a digital feedback process for audiences and other artists


IMPORTANT DATES:

EXTENDED: April 22nd - Application Deadline
May 1st - Artist Notification
May 23rd - A Digital Costume/Tech Run (Afternoon/Early Evening) + Show (8pm)


SPECIAL NOTE:

We understand the precarious and risky place new work can occupy, especially personal material. We ask that you consider Content Warnings in advance of the performance. Impulse Theatre is attempting to create a safe space for both audience and artist to take risks, and requires transparency between its artists and audiences to ensure that each is supported.
