Committee Volunteer Opportunities
Fundraising Committee: Help secure funding for HerUpland through scholarships, grants, organizing fundraising events, selling merchandise, and crafting budget proposals. Your efforts will support our activities and growth.
Communications Committee: Enhance our presence and engagement through branding, social media, content creation, newsletters, website management, graphic design, advertising, and moderating community interactions. Contribute to our budget planning to ensure successful communication strategies. - This Committee Is Full
National Events & Volunteers Committee: For those who have been actively involved in HerUpland events, take a leadership role in organizing national events and coordinating volunteers, including budget management. - This Committee Is Full
Feather Foundation Committee: Shape the foundation by formalizing its structure, nominating beneficiaries, assist and organize feather makers, and managing its finances through thoughtful budget proposals.
JEDI Committee: Drive our Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) initiatives forward with a strategic plan and outreach efforts, ensuring inclusive participation and engagement across our activities.
Finance & Budget Committee: Play a critical role in building and managing the budgets that underpin our projects and operations, ensuring financial health and transparency.
Event Volunteer Roles
The Squad: The Squad is a crucial team of four who manage meal planning, coordination, and preparation for events. They are responsible for early arrival for setup and staying late for takedown. While primarily focused on meal-related tasks, the Squad also has the chance to engage in demonstrations, seminars, and hunting, provided it doesn't interfere with their main duties
Bird Dog TrainHers: Experienced trainers with a blend of amateur and professional experience in handling a variety of dog breeds. Ideal candidates have competed in dog sports, understanding the differences between competition and hunting training, and have a solid foundation in diverse training techniques and knowledge of dog breeds and testing organizations. They should have personal success in training and competing with dogs, potentially including judging roles in recognized organizations. Ownership of a bird dog and a proven track record with references highlight their practical experience. Essential traits include an open-minded, helpful personality, excellent social skills, patience, and versatility in training methods.
Field MentHers (Hunt Camps Only): Seasoned hunters equipped with well-trained dogs, offering guidance to individuals from novice to advanced hunting levels, including youth, with a steadfast commitment to safety. They possess a deep respect for and understanding of the sport, the environment, the bird dogs, and the upland species involved. These mentors are expected to be both available and sufficiently knowledgeable to conduct skills seminars covering equipment, firearm maintenance, game bird preparation, and processing. Physical fitness is a must for Field MentHers, as they will lead their groups through demanding landscapes such as mountains and rugged terrains. Their role is versatile, requiring a readiness to assist in various capacities around the camp.
