St. James’ Day Celebration
San Francisco, California
Saturday, July 23, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

*****PLEASE READ BEFORE REGISTERING! Critical details for this event have changed!*******

Due to major disruptions in MUNI and BART services as well as multiple public events along the route originally planned, we have changed the date and revised the route.

We have RESCHEDULED THIS EVENT TO SATURDAY, JULY 23 (the day before the original date). We will still begin at 10:00 AM, but instead of Ocean Beach, we will begin our walk from the plaza in front of the Glen Park BART station off Diamond Street and make our way along Joost Avenue to our first historic landmark of the day (Sunnyside Conservatory) before heading over to the West Portal area for a short refueling stop off Ulloa street, which includes the famous Noe Valley Bakery. We will then continue up to Portola Drive towards Noe Valley and the 22nd Street Jungle Stairs with one other “secret” staircase thrown in for good measure before emerging into the Mission District. We still plan to end with an optional late picnic lunch around 2:00 PM at Dolores Park.

If you arrive earlier at Glen Park and want a coffee or breakfast, Pebbles Café or Bello Coffee & Tea are just a block away on the corner of Diamond and Kern streets.

The level of difficulty is still moderate to hard. Total distance is slightly shorter at about 6 miles. There will still be multiple steep stairways and an elevation gain of about 600 feet. As originally mentioned, it’s important that you be able to keep up with the group on the steep sections as there are several junctions along the route.
