GMS School Governance Team  desires to have a collaborative relationship with staff and the community and is committed to establishing and maintaining a strong communications structure to inform and engage both internal and external stakeholders in setting and achieving district goals.  Citizens of the community have the expressed right and are encouraged to attend meetings of the Team to listen to and observe the deliberations of its members. SGT meetings are public meetings and not meetings of the public.  However, any citizen may request the opportunity to communicate with the SGT and be recognized to speak regarding appropriate issues.  The adopted regulations for public participation shall be followed to preserve the orderly pursuit of business of the SGT and to provide proper opportunities for legitimate and objective discussion and analysis of the issues presented.

1. Persons desiring to speak to the SGT at a public meeting must sign in on the sheet provided, stating name, topic for discussion, address, phone number and email address.  This contact information will be used if a follow up is indicated.

2. Persons who are granted the opportunity to speak will be recognized by the Chair at the appropriate time during the meeting.  Speakers will be limited to three minutes and shall be respectful in tone and language at all times.

3. If there are numerous requests to address the Board on the same matter, the Chair will ask the group to select 1-3 representatives to speak on their behalf.  At the conclusion of their comments, all those who are in agreement will be asked to stand in support.

4. Matters relating to employees, students and other items which the law deems inappropriate for discussion in open session must be submitted in writing to the Principal and will be reviewed by the Board in executive session.

5. Remarks about SGT operations shall be directed to the Chair, who is the designated spokesperson for the SGT.  No individual SGT member, including the Chair, can provide an opinion until the matter has been discussed and agreed upon by the Board as a whole.  Remarks about school operations should be directed to the Principal.
