Fireweed Academy 2023-2024 Parent/Guardian Volunteer Questionnaire 
Fireweed Academy needs help from volunteers like you to uphold the challenging and engaging activities that our program provides. As a parent/guardian you are welcomed with open arms to volunteer in a number of ways to offer support and bolster students' school experience. Please indicate which volunteer opportunities interest you. A volunteer coordinator will contact you when the indicated events require your services, and you can accept or decline the request. 

Please note in order to be a volunteer in our school you'll need to have a current background check with the district. These are good for only one school year. Please follow the link https://kpbsd.org/departments/assistant-superintendent/instructional-services/hr/volunteer/ to fill out the paperwork. Beat the beginning of the year rush and fill it out now!

Kindergarten Classroom Parent:
A Classroom Parent will rally the troops and organize the volunteers for their given classroom and teacher. Essentially you will be the classroom volunteer coordinator.

Classroom Aide:
Classroom aide's will assist teachers in the classroom as often as they can. You might work on projects, help with prepping projects, work with students; basically what ever the teacher needs on any given day.

Little Fireweed Lunch Supervision:
Lunch supervisors will help manage students and help with lunch time (11:30-12) in the yurt. They will also help with clean up after lunch.
Please let us know your availability.
Little Fireweed Morning Recess Supervision (10:00-10:25 AM):
Recess supervisors will help uphold playground rules, and supervise safe play practices. Be an extra helping hand and set of eyes.

Little Fireweed Lunch Recess Supervision (12:00-12:30 PM):
Recess supervisors will help uphold playground rules, and supervise safe play practices. Be an extra helping hand and set of eyes.

Field Trip Chaperone:
Fireweed goes on a multitude of field trips. Sometimes using busses, walking, or parent drivers. 
Please let us know your availability, and if you'd be willing to drive when needed.
Little Fireweed Handyperson:
Minor fixes and repairs to the interior, exterior, playground. Put up and take down of holiday lights for the school. Taking care of the "Honey To-Do" list for the school.
Let us know your skill set and availability.
Artist in the Schools Assistant:
You will help to prep the Yurt (for LFW) or the Art Room (for BFW). Help guide students through their rotation, assist the visiting artist and help with clean up.

Have a special skill, interest, hobbies or passion? Would you like to share your culture? We would love to have you come speak with our students!
