Questionnaire for neurotechnological innovation driven stakeholders within the NeurotechEU (www.theneurotech.eu):
What is NeurotechEU and what does it aim?
- It is a prestigious European University funded by the EU in 2020 and is comprised of 8 founding universities and 250+ associates, including previously funded European Universities, partner research institutions, companies, societal stakeholders, cities, and (non) governmental organizations.
- The central aim of European Universities is to achieve an integrated, long-term joint strategy for education, research and innovation and society at large, that goes beyond any potential existing bilateral and multilateral cooperation among partners.
- NeurotechEU aims at building world class knowledge-creating teams (“challenge-based approach”) of students, academics, researchers, businesses, regional actors and civil society actors, to address societal challenges.
- NeurotechEU focusses on 8 neurochallenges: (1) health & healthcare, (2) learning & education, (3) nutrition & cognition, (4) biological & artificial intelligence, (5) neurotechnology & big data, (6) public & ethics, (7) economy & ecology, and (8) smart cities.

What is NEURICOO and what does this questionnaire aim?
- NEURICOO is basically a matchmaking system to try and match an individual academic to a company, in the case that the academic and company wants support /collaboration. Academic to academic and company to company collaboration can also be facilitated through that.
- NEURICOO will serve as a central organizational structure for university-industry collaboration and will be comprised of scientists and company representatives.
- NEURICOO will be providing integration and coordination among NeurotechEU partners and associated members aiming at obtaining a roadmap for a cost-effective mechanism of implementing technological innovation in the industry and market.
- The aim of the questionnaire is to collect information from stakeholders of NeurotechEU in order to establish NEURICOO.
- The key data requested is in which of the 8 NeurotechEU neurochallenges do the researchers work and using which technology or research technique.
- The data collected will be cast into a matrix organization (columns: neurochallenges, rows: technologies) with each technology crisscrossing multiple challenges to provide a visually comprehensive plan showing the interaction between technologies and societal challenges.
- This will then be used to organize technological innovation summits online to bring academicians and companies together to address resources available and to determine what is needed to take the innovations developed individually to a higher technological readiness level (TRL) by creating synergy and ultimately to increase the competitiveness of European economy, and society.
- Personal and stakeholder-specific data is only for the internal use of NeurotechEU management for organization of further interaction and mechanisms to fulfill the needs of partners. Aggregated and anonymized data might be shared among stakeholders.
