The Bastrop ISD SHAC is seeking new community and parent members for the 2022-2023 term.
Parents, guardians and community members play a vital role in our district-wide implementation of our coordinated school health program. This is a 2-year term commitment. Council members are critical for recommendations, proposals and/or action items as it relates to our District's and community's health and well-being. We will be accepting applications until Tuesday, February 21st at 5pm.
WHAT IS THE SHAC?
A SHAC is a school district created advisory group, consisting of members from different areas of the community and school district. The job of the SHAC is to make sure that the district’s school health programs reflect local community values. Texas Legislation requires that the majority of SHAC members be parents of currently enrolled students within their respective school district.
SHAC ROLES:
Take a whole school, whole community, and whole child approach to health & learning.
Talk over health issues, select programs, and provide training time to members.
Make school health recommendations to the school board and help to offset costs.
Promote school health coordination within the district & community.

- Please note that submission of this application does not guarantee membership. There are a limited number of positions and candidate interviews may be required.
