Support Bread & Roses's YDSA Convention Resolutions!
YDSA B&R is putting forward six convention resolutions to advance YDSA's labor, electoral, political education, and international work, build mass movements against the right on our campuses, and request expanded support for a growing YDSA from DSA. This resolution recommits YDSA to the RFS, tasks the YLC with continuing and expanding its work supporting YDSA labor work, carrying out RFS political education, mapping members' post-grad plans, collaborating with other organizations to support YDSAers in industrializing, and pushes back against the red unionist tendency in the Student Worker Alliance (SWA), instead encouraging YDSAers to build SWA into a class-wide organization for student workers.

This resolution provides some guidelines to YDSA chapters in their electoral work, authorizes a YDSA committee to support YDSAers with electoral work, mandates education materials on electoral work, the dirty break, and building an independent party, and directs YDSA fall drive materials to discuss the 2024 election, presenting organizing with YDSA as an alternative to the Democratic and Republican candidates and parties.

This resolution promotes YDSA chapters to build broad campaigns on their campuses alongside campus unions and other organizations around social justice demands for civil rights and democracy in the face of attacks by the right-wing. The resolution mandates maintaining class and political independence from capitalist forces and building mass movements on our campuses instead

This resolution requests that the IC dissolve its Youth Subcommittee, establishes a YDSA Internationalism Committee (YIC), outlines an analysis of international politics that rejects campism and ensures YDSA makes connections with youth socialist activists involved in the labor and social movements, and stands in solidarity with workers movements for democracy and socialism in all countries.

This resolution promotes more national political education programming, integrated into chapter political education and also authorizes the YDSA Political Education Committee (YPEC) to hold more national debates, panels, and speakers.

This resolution endorses the YDSA Consensus Resolution for DSA National Convention, reaffirms that the YDSA NCC is meant to direct YDSA staff and interns, requests that the 2023-25 NPC prioritizes rehiring a second YDSA staffer and requests a third staffer, and requests that the NCC gets to review and approve budgets for YDSA national gatherings.
