DAY ONE - AUGUST 3 (8:00 am - 2:30 pm) - Experience the Learning from Place: Bdote Tour at Fort Snelling State Park and Indian Mounds Regional Park led by the MN Humanities Center.

Meet at Fort Snelling State Park (101 Snelling Lake Road, St. Paul) at 8:00 am. In the morning session, participants will take a walking tour and learn from Dakota community members through stories and histories (many of which have often been left out of our state’s history). The afternoon session will take place at Indian Mounds Regional Park (10 Mounds Blvd, St. Paul).

Participants need to provide their own transportation, lunch, snacks, and beverages for the day. Also note: A park permit is required per vehicle when entering Fort Snelling State Park.

A tour guide sound system will be available so that everyone can hear the presenters clearly while practicing safe social distancing. When you check in, you will receive a small receiver for the day. Please bring your own headphones (regular jack, no blue tooth) if you have them; otherwise, we can provide you with disposable headphones. We will collect the receivers at the end of the day. Indoor bathrooms are available at both locations.

The tour will occur rain or shine. Please dress accordingly. Wear sensible footwear for walking and a rain jacket or umbrella in case of rain.
