Etna Elementary will continue offering music choices during the school day for 5th and 6th grade students this coming 2024-25 school year. Please register by May 24th. Once a student determines their music preference, they will be committed to that choice for the entire school year. Students normally get their first choice, but those who do not register will be placed where there is availability and room. The music choices are:
1. Orchestra - Students will choose to play the
violin, viola, cello, or bass. Students will learn the fundamentals of playing string instrument in ensembles. They will need to practice regularly outside of class time 15-20 minutes/day on average for progress to occur. They MUST have an instrument and will need to bring their instruments on days they have music for a special. Cellos and basses can be kept at home and are
not allowed on the bus. They will perform in a concert at the end of the year.
2. Band- Students will choose to play a
flute, clarinet, trumpet or trombone. Baritones and French horns may also be available from the school if a student demonstrates proficiency and makes extra time to practice. Saxophones are allowed if students have their own, but learning clarinet first is recommended.
