Why Try (Improve Student Motivation) Program Referral
Join Florida Virtual School mental health counselors for a weekly group session following the Why Try curriculum.  The program uses simple, hands-on strategies and resources to help motivate the unmotivated student, improve engagement and increase academic success.  Topics include:
  • Improved decision making
  • Dealing with peer pressure
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Impulse control
  • Obeying laws and rules
  • Valuing hard work
  • Plugging in to support systems
  • Having a future vision 
This is a SIX week program, starting Tuesday, May 21st - June 25th at 1:30 pm (EST)

Unit 1: Relationship Building  
Unit 2: Reality Ride / Labels
Unit 3: Defense Mechanisms / Motivation Formula
Unit 4: Climbing Out / Jumping Hurdles
Unit 5:  Desire, Time & Effort / Lifting the Weight
 Unit 6: Get Plugged In / The Wall 

Participation is open to both Home Education Program (Flex Program) and Florida Virtual High School (Full-time Program) high school students, grades 9 - 12.  All students under the age of 18 years old must have this form completed by a parent/guardian and consent given (below) to participate.
