KAMA DC is a volunteer-run non-profit organization which creates a platform for immigrants in the greater Washington DC area to share their skills and stories.
KAMA DC's core group is made up of 15-20 volunteers who meet once a week on Wednesday evenings on zoom from 6:30-7:30pm.
We are looking for volunteers to join our classes, storytelling, and promotions teams:
The classes team manages all of our immigrant-run classes and workshops. They are responsible for finding immigrant event leads, working out a topic for a class or workshop, helping plan the event, and then running it. They also seek to form new community partnerships.
The storytelling team manages our immigrant storytelling nights, panel discussions, and the "Journeys" podcast. They come up with ideas for events, recruit speakers, help them prepare for the event, and sometimes serve as emcee for the event. They also seek to form new community partnerships.
The promotions team is responsible for all external facing communications, including managing our social media accounts and website, designing graphics, creating videos, sending mailings, and conducting outreach. They also run the Immigrants of the DMV (@immigrantsoftheDMV) instagram account.
KAMA DC particularly encourages refugees, immigrants, and BIPOC to apply.
