According to Governor Newsom's budget proposal on May 14, the State of California will not be authorizing Distance Learning as an emergency option for the 2021-2022 school year. LUSD can continue to offer Independent Study as an alternative instructional model and will incorporate some elements of Distance Learning in the program. Please complete this application once for every student for whom you are requesting Independent Study for the 2021-2022 school year. Independent study contracts will be offered to students based on space availability and prioritizing based on the reason for the request and the academic history of the student in Distance Learning or Independent Study. As stated in the document above, if the student does not successfully complete independent study work weekly, the student will be withdrawn from independent study and enrolled in traditional in-person learning classes.

Complete esta solicitud una vez por cada estudiante para quien solicite un estudio independiente para el ciclo escolar 2021-2022. Se ofrecerán contratos de estudio independiente a los estudiantes basado en la disponibilidad de cupo y prioridad según la razón de la solicitud y el historial académico del estudiante en el Aprendizaje a Distancia o Estudio Independiente. Como se indica en el documento anterior, si el estudiante no completa satisfactoriamente las asignaciones de estudio independiente semanalmente, el estudiante será dado de baja del estudio independiente y se inscribirá en clases tradicionales de aprendizaje presencial.
