Number Patterns 1
(10 Questions)
CA Math Standards
Grade 2
2.0 Students demonstrate an understanding of patterns and how patterns grow and describe them in general ways:
2.1 Recognize, describe, and extend patterns and determine a next term and linear patterns (e.g.: 4, 8, 12, ?, ?, ?; the number of ears on one horse, two horses, three horses, four horses)
2.2 Solve problems involving simple number patterns.
Grades 3 & 4
1.1 Analyze problems by identifying relationships, distinguishing relevant from irrelevant information, sequencing and prioritizing information, and observing patterns.

Number Patterns Help 1
The first step to completing a number pattern is to figure out what rule the pattern is following. In the pattern that follows, the rule is "counting up by 2's". To complete the pattern, you would add 2 to the last number, and then add 2 again.

2, 4, 6, 8, __, __, __  (The answer would be 10, 12, 14...)
Number Patterns Help 2
Figure out this new pattern rule:

13, 15, 16, 18, 19, 21, __, __, __  (The answer would be 22, 24, 25... This pattern rule is "add 2, add 1, add 2, add 1...)
Number Patterns Help 3
If you take a moment to review the example patterns on the title image, you'll notice the following:
Yellow: "count up by 2's"
Green: "count up by 5's"
Pink: "count down by 1's"
Blue: "count up by 3's"
Orange: "count up by 10's"
Olive: "count up by 100's"
