Free Meal Ordering Guidelines
Below are the guidelines and information for Yinghua's school-provided free meals, breakfast and lunch, please read through them carefully. In order for Yinghua to provide the Free School Meal Programs, we need your help to make sure the processes and guidelines listed below are followed.

What is the Minnesota Free School Meals Program?
The program provide state reimbursement to schools that have participated in the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program. This allows for students to have one breakfast and one lunch at no cost at school, regardless of the financial liability.

What is NOT included in the MN Free School Meals Program?

Single item purchases and non-reimbursable meals are not free such as:

  • A carton of milk

  • Extra slice of pizza

  • Fruit smoothies

  • Meals that do not meet the minimum requirements set by USDA

  • Meals served to teachers, staff, and other adults

Do I need to complete the Educational Benefits Application (EBA) for free meals?
Although a completed Educational Benefit Application (EBA) form is not required to receive this free meal benefit, qualifying families should continue to complete the form which provides a variety of discounts to students for field trips, athletics, Aftercare and more. Your application may also benefit the school to qualify for more education funds. Please renew or complete the EBA form by October 1.
Where do Yinghua's lunches and breakfasts come from?
CKC Good Foods is the caterer that provides your children with nutritious breakfasts and lunches. These meals are prepared according to USDA guidelines, are approved by MDE and hopefully will appeal to your kids. Menus offer fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as entrees prepared from scratch if possible.
How to get a school breakfast? (Daily Grab-n-Go breakfast is served from 8-8:30 a.m.)
  • Get your student's barcode tag at Meet Your Teacher night
  • Attach the tag to your student's backpack in order to be scanned when a student arrives to get Grab-n-Go breakfast
  • To reduce the replacement of the barcode tag, please have your child memorize their student ID number and keep the tag on the child's backpack throughout the school year.
How to get a school lunch? (Daily lunch is served between 10:40 a.m. and 1 p.m.)
  • Yinghua Boonli account - set up an  account if your student did not have one set up previously (see more details on the Yinghua Lunch Webpage).
  • If you forgot your username or password, please email helen.hindrawati@yinghuaacademy.org in order for us to retrieve your username.
  • Pre-order lunches through your Boonli account, which can be accessed on the front page of Yinghua's website. The monthly menu will open from the 6th through the 20th of each month prior to the month of the orders.
  • We cannot accept any late orders.
What happens if I place an order, but my student does not eat it?
  • To avoid the potential loss of federal/state funding, please ensure your students have their pre-ordered meals. Yinghua is responsible for the payment to the caterer and the federal/state only reimburses schools based on the number of meals served to students during in person school days.
  • If your student has pre-ordered lunch but will miss their lunch period due to an appointment or family event, please inform the Main Office or email helen.hindrawati@yinghuaacademy.org. We can have the student eat their meal before or after, or cancel the pre-ordered meal in advance, as long as it is at least 7 business days prior to the date of their absence.
  • Take the time with your child to decide the days that they would eat school lunch. This will help produce a smooth program, reducing the issues of a student not liking the ordered meal, being hungry, and wasting food. This will also help reduce the financial impact for the potential loss of our free meals program due to ordered meals not being served to students.
What if a student does not have a pre-ordered lunch and needs a lunch (emergency meal)?
  • Since we cater the pre-ordered lunches, students who did not have a pre-ordered meal will be provided a shelf stable reimbursable meal along with fruit and veggies.
How can I ensure that I have successfully placed the order for my student's meal?
  • Be sure to click "CONFIRM" when placing an order or processing the extra payment if you place a la carte items in your cart. You will receive an email confirmation that we have received your orders. If you did not get an email confirmation, your student(s) will not be registered for school lunch and will be getting an "emergency meal" if they do not bring lunch from home that day.
  • After you submit your order, you can go to the "view/print order" section of Boonli to review your student's order, and ensure you did not miss a day that you would like your student to eat school lunch. You may still add additional orders during the open periods if you missed any.
What if the student's diet preference is vegetarian?
Vegetarian Meals: If your student needs a vegetarian menu, email helen.hindrawati@yinghuaacademy.org, to request access to the menu before you place orders, otherwise you will only have the automated regular menu on Boonli. If your student chooses vegetarian, your student's Boonli account will be set up with a vegetarian menu and is expected to stay on this menu for the whole school year.
What if my child has allergies?
Student Allergies: Yinghua and CKC take student allergy requests very seriously. We must follow USDA guidelines to determine if the student has an allergy with a disability rather than simply a preference. Therefore, if a student has special dietary needs, please note that we cannot provide a substitution until the Special Diet Statement (found on the Yinghua lunch webpage) is completed by the student's licensed physician, physician assistant, or a registered nurse. The signed document must be emailed to Licensed School Nurse Ginger Hao at ginger.hao@yinghuaacademy.org. Once we have received the completed form, the school nurse will contact your family. We are unable to make any changes to a student's diet or provide the student with alternate meals without this signed document on file. Please note that CKC has limited menu selections for allergens/gluten free meals.
