We have made mask wearing a policy at Origins since October 2020. We put this in place before it was a provincial mandate due to the uncertainty of the Covid-19 situation at the time, and what we felt was the right thing to do to keep our visitors as safe as possible. We kept this policy in place even when the provincial health order was lifted for a period earlier in 2021.

Currently masks are optional for kids under 12 at Origins, but we would like to allow all of our visitors to enjoy moving without the limitation of wearing a face covering.

The most recent health orders state that masks must be worn in common areas of fitness centres, but NOT during exercise.

We would like to move forward and start putting Covid-19 behind us by following the above description. This would mean all people ages 5 and up would need to enter the building and gym wearing a mask. However, masks may be stored or put away when you are out in the open space and exercising.

Social and physical distancing will be key to making this new policy work. You will be encouraged to bring some belongings that you frequently use (phone, water bottle, etc) with you in to the space, so that you do not need to frequently return to cubbies. No crowding will be allowed in any areas, and masks must be worn if this cannot be avoided. Of course if you still wish to wear a mask you may continue to do so!
