Currently, Swansea has a CENTERING INDIGENOUS KNOWLEDGE focus of: As a school, we will explore and understand Indigenous perspectives within traditional curriculum areas (science, language, math, social studies, art, health and physical education, etc.).  Please let us know any suggestions you may have for next year's CENTERING INDIGENOUS KNOWLEDGE focus.
Currently, Swansea has a COMBATING ANTI-BLACK RACISM focus of: Through the curriculum and the use of variety of learning experience (use of picture books, guest speakers, art, and music) we will expand student knowledge of positive Black experiences and contributions within the Canadian and global context. Please let us know any suggestions you may have for next year's COMBATING ANTI-BLACK RACISM focus.
Currently, Swansea has an EQUITY focus of: As a staff we will work to understand our personal biases.  We will accomplish this through focused work at staff meetings, lunch and learns, and structured supports.  We intend to understand how our beliefs and biases impact our view and understanding of our students, families, and their needs.  We recognize that this will take a development of trust between staff members to allow for honest self-reflection with the support of trusted colleagues. Please let us know any suggestions you may have for next year's EQUITY focus.
Currently, Swansea has a WELL-BEING focus of: We aim to develop a culture of support that allows positive staff and student relationships to develop.  This should allow for better collaboration between members of the school community, and enable us to be more open and responsive about wellbeing concerns of staff and students. Please let us know any suggestions you may have for next year's WELL-BEING focus.
Currently, Swansea has an ACHIEVEMENT focus of: Through the focused teaching of literacy and numeracy skills we aim to reduce gaps in student achievement. The student supports in math and language will positively impact learning skills and academic skills.  Please let us know any suggestions you may have for next year's ACHIEVEMENT focus.
