Mālama Learning Center Volunteer In-Take Form
We welcome community members with diverse abilities to volunteer with us at Mālama Learning Center (MLC)! Whether you are a student, teacher, artist, businessperson, retiree -- there is something you could do to help. Another great aspect of volunteering is that your sweat equity can be used to match some grants...so in a real way, volunteers are donors. A general list of activities where we could use kōkua are listed below.
  • Ola Nā Kini Site Restoration: We have many volunteer opportunities with this major native and edible tree plantng initiative at Pālehua, Nānākuli muliwai, and Awawalei (food forest). Volunteers are needed to remove invasive species, plant native and edible species, collect seeds, mulch, build fence and other things, tool maintenance, and community workdays.
  • Pālehua/Kapolei High School Nursery: Love plants? Learn how to propagate and care for plants utilizing various methods through volunteering at the Kapolei High School nursery or Pālehua Nursery, which houses a variety of native and introduced Hawaiian plants as well as fruits and vegetables. Volunteers will also help with nursery maintenance (irrigation, pest control, washing pots, up-potting plants, weeding, watering).
  • Overall MLC Program Volunteer: We're constantly seeking individual volunteers who can assist in any and all programs (education/outreach, fundraising, curriculum development, graphic art design, digital/video content creation, vehicle/facilities maintenance, etc...) ran by Mālama Learning Center. There's nothing better than getting to know a volunteer on a personal level through constant engagement with our programs and staff.
To better gauge and understand what kind of opportunities you are interested in, please answer the following questions so we can get to know you better. Mahalo!
