4-week Budgeting Class (Life Skills) coordinated by our JU4Y Board Member Natalie Delgado.

Life Skills Training:

1. First Week 3/22/22 – Intro ‐ What is a budget, what is a check, debit card, credit card. How to write a check and except checks from others. How to cash it? The purpose of a bank account, what is the difference between a savings and checking? Fees Associated with Bank Accounts
Activity – writing checks to each other. How to properly ask a bank if the check can be cashed. (role play)
Homework – gather all bills and expenses due every month. Gather all income that received throughout the month.    

2. 2nd Week 3/29/22 – Basics – Creating a budget. What is Income? What is an expense? How to identify needs vs wants? To buy name brand or not?   Activity – Creating a monthly budget
Homework – Bring the latest grocery store ads. Delivered

3. 3rd Week 4/5/22‐Save $1000 before paying off any debt. How and Why? Show finance cute funny video. Talk about some key points shown in the video. Which part resonated with the viewer the most? What would it realistically look like for you to save $1000 starting now?  
Activity – Create grocery list, preparation is always key!  
Homework – be prepared to go the grocery store, eat something before we go! Never go to the grocery store hungry!  

4. 4/12/22 Field trip to the local grocery store. Maybe Staters Bros or Albertsons. Final Class – no homework!
