Videographer Worksheet
Read and review the Videographer RFQ, especially the Scope of Work and Compensation sections. Basically, each squad has a budget of $2,500 which includes coordination time at $150/hr, half days at $300, full days at $500. Roughly 4 full days or 7 half-days of filming, plus time for coordination and file uploads. It's important to be thoughtful about what you want filmed and to make a plan to capture the requested footage. This worksheet will help you make such a plan and be in charge of the story, which people and places are featured, and when things will be filmed. Thanks for taking the time to think this through - we're excited to help y'all tell the incredible stories about your organizing and your communities.

What story or stories do you want to tell with the help of the videographers?
THE SQUAD / ORGANIZATION / COMMUNITY: Imagine the squad, the broader organization, and/or the community you are part of is the protagonist in your story. A collective instead of an individual is the main character. What’s the story now? Is it different?
THE SQUAD / ORG: What’s the history, background of the collective? What are the major wins or milestones?
THE SQUAD / ORG: What are you working on now? What do you see for the future?
THE SQUAD & THE PEOPLE:  What other people are important to feature in the telling of your squad's story?  Who are some folks in your community who could speak to the impact of your work?
THE SQUAD & THE PEOPLE: Imagine one person in your community is the protagonist in your story. Someone who has benefited from your organizing in a way that's represents the broader impact y'all are making. Who would this be?
THE SQUAD & THE PEOPLE: About the people in the last two questions: When could they be present for a day when the videographer is present to speak on camera? What coordination needs to happen so they can be filmed? How might y'all encourage them to participate in this video documentation in a way that's non-extractive, that gives them control over how their story is told?
THE PLACE: What are the important community places and spaces for your squad, your organization, and your base that should be featured in any film about your work? When might the videographer be able to film these spaces, especially when y'all or your base are present and active there?
THE PROGRAM: Why did y'all want to participate with Highlander? How is working with Highlander supporting your organizing and preparing you for future work? What are y’all getting out of the Squadship that you would want included in any films about the Squadship?
PMA: How will you document your squad’s People’s Movement Assembly(ies) and/or community meetings?
PMA: When will your squad’s People’s Movement Assembly(ies) occur?  Date and time
THE SQUAD / ORG: What Squad Project activities and/or local mutual aid activities (free store, food distribution, canvassing, etc.) would you like documented? What are the best days/times for this to be filmed? When and where should the videographer show up?
THE SQUAD / ORG: Is there pre-existing video footage of the squad’s work that you'd like to include? Paste links to any videos from social media, local news outlets, YouTube, etc.
SITE VISIT: What would you like filmed (pre-recorded) for the site visit? What would you want added to a site visit video (specific footage listed above, pre-existing footage, maps, photos, etc.)?
Paste any links to photos or maps you want featured. Use "wesendit.com" for large files. See "Planning Virtual Site Visits" form: https://forms.gle/fKDMXdgusCTSKAVL8
