Please fill out this form to register.  There is limited spacing for each event, please only register if you can attend. More information about each event will be sent to the email you list below around 72 hours prior to your event.   To get all information on the event go to https://www.georgiacyber.org/calendars/events-field-trips.  Once events fill to capacity, I will email families that registered to let them know.  Please be sure to go to the GCA Calendar to find out all information on the event.  You must register to attend. Event registration will closed the morning of the event to allow for families to receive their link before the session.  You may email anyone from the Community team below for assistance.

Virtual - Fit Friday: Mindful Meditations - October 1st 12-1pm - Join us for some relaxation during your lunch. This month the focus is on goal setting and breathing while stretching your body. This event is ideal for all ages.
Virtual - Cooking with Champ - October 1st 3:30-4:30pm - There are cooking shows and there's Cooking with Champ. You haven't seen a cooking show until you have seen GCA's staff cook with Champ (GCA's Mascot). This month Community Partner's own, Erica Lanier, will make an Apple Treat. A list of ingredients will be sent to those who register. All ages can join in on the fun, but younger children may need assistance.  
Virtual - Microsoft  - October 6th 12-1pm - Join us for our session with Microsoft for our Microsoft Monday+ series for October! Earn your virtual badge and have fun with your GCA friends. Be sure to look out for the session link closer to the date of the event and if you are a young reader have someone assist along the way.
POSTPONED DATE TBD - Athens - EcoTours with Erica - October 4th 3:30-5pm - Ever wondered what an owl eats? Join Mrs. Erica to learn about various forms of animal adaptations and to dissect an owl pellet. Can you determine what your owl ate for dinner?  
POSTPONED DATE TBD - Cumming - Warbington Farms - October 6th 10am-12:30pm - Are you ready for a fun day at the farm? Come and join us at Warbington Farms for a fall-tastic field trip! We will visit the pumpkin patch, take a hayride to feed the cows and tour the farm, visit the petting zoo, and have a blast at the fun park! Ideal for grades K-6th.
Virtual - Hour of Science with Ms. Rosita - October 7th 12-1pm - Did you know that October is part of Hispanic Heritage month? During this Hour of Science we will read a book about Hispanic Heritage and then create a soda bottle terrarium! Ideal for elementary aged students!
Virtual - Chattanooga Zoo - October 12th 12-1pm - Join us virtually for a session on creepy crawlers!  We will meet some animals that are sometimes referred to as creepy and learn why they are important to their ecosystems.  We will meet some arthropods and reptiles!  Stay tuned to find out which ones!  This session is geared towards our 7th-12th grade students but all are welcome to join in to see the fun animals!
Oxford - Mitcham Farm - October 12 3:30-5pm - Come and see everything that Mitcham Farm has to offer. Explore the corn maze and pumpkin patch, then play on the jump pad, pedal cars, bouncy horses, and yard games. Take a hayride and visit with some of the farm animals. Each student will receive a coloring book, ice cream, and a mini pumpkin.  
Albany - Albany Museum of Art - October 13th 2-4pm - Come join us on a guided gallery tour of the European Splendor exhibit at the Albany Museum of Art! This exhibit features a variety of different art from Italian, Dutch, and French artists. You will also create a piece of art related to the exhibit! Don't miss this rare opportunity to see master artwork from the Renaissance and Baroque eras. Ideal for students K-8th.
Virtual - Grand Canyon National Park - October 13th 3:30-4:15pm - Join Rangers from the Grand Canyon National Park in The Land That Shapes Us which explores land use and rights. Using a case study from Grand Canyon, students will investigate the historically tenuous relationship between the National Park Service and Grand Canyon's 11 traditionally associated tribes. Students will be asked to consider how the past influences the present and what actions can help affect positive change in the future. Recommended for students in 6th-12th grade.
Virtual - National Weather Service - October 14th 12-1pm - Did you know that in outer space there are storms called solar storms? Come join us as we have a live discussion about the Sun and solar storms with a meteorologist from the National Weather Service. Make sure that you bring any questions that you may have to ask the meteorologist. Ideal for students 6th-12th grades.
Nashville, GA - A-Maze-N-Cane - October 14th 3:30-5pm - Owner of the farm will give a short educational lesson on growing sugar cane. Followed by activities like: the maze through the sugar cane, zip line, sand zone, obstacle course, corn hole, giant connect four, giant Jenga, and basketball hoops . Ideal for grades K-5th.
Virtual - Creative Discovery Museum - October 15th 12-1pm - Explore solar energy, a sustainable power source, during this immersive lesson designed for middle school students. Students will experiment with heat absorption and whether it's occurring through conduction, convection, or radiation. Later in the lesson, students will have a STEM building challenge. Items needed to build will be sent to registered students!

Plains - Peanut Farm - October 18th 3:30-5:30pm - You know that Georgia is the home to a former president. But did you know that his family used to harvest peanuts? Join us for a tour of Former President Jimmy Carter's Boyhood home and the Peanut Farm.  Peanut harvesting season is September and October. Come touch and learn about peanuts. This field trip is for 3rd grade and up. Limited spacing available.
Virtual - Atlanta Botanical Gardens - October 19th 12:15-12:45pm  - Live from the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Sticky, stinky, slippery plants. Travel to Georgia's wetland bogs from your classroom to get an up-close view of our native bug-eating plants in action. Discover why these plants have developed an unusual appetite and how they manage to trap and digest their prey. Ideal for students 3rd-5th
Pine Mountain - Callaway Gardens - October 19th 3:00-4:30pm - Join us for a self-guided tour of the gardens.  We will visit the Butterfly Center, Discover Center and see the birds of prey show!  Be sure to pack a lunch and wear shoes for walking.  There is limited spacing for this event.
Virtual - Augusta University Cybersecurity - October 20th 3:30-4:30pm - Cybersecurity aims to reduce the risk of cyber attacks and protect against the unauthorized exploitation of systems, networks and technologies. Join Augusta University's Cybersecurity department as we learn about the future of Cybersecurity, earning a degree in the field and solving a cyber crime. This virtual event is for 7th grade and up.
Lookout Mountain - Rock City Gardens - October 21st 3:30-5pm -Come join us for a self-guided tour at Rock City Gardens, a sparkling wonderland filled with soaring rock formations, caves, and lush gardens. We will be doing some awesome scavenger hunts and enjoying the beautiful fall weather!
Griffin - College Tour & Board Games - October 22st 3:30-4:30pm - After touring Southern Crescent Technical College with the counseling team, let's have some board game fun and snacks at Dundee Lake Park. Board games will be provided or bring your own. This event is for Middle and High School students only. Exact location in the part will be provided to those who confirm their registration. Limited spaces available.
Virtual - Fit Friday: ETO Fitness - October 22nd 12-1pm - Self-Defense is a countermeasure that involves defending the health and well-being of oneself from harm. Builds character as well as physical and mental health. The class is fun and inviting for all ages. Join GCA and let's workout as one and have some fun with it. Hope to see you there. This is ideal for all ages.
Virtual - Chattanooga Zoo - October 26th 3:30-4:30pm - Join us virtually for a session on Geographical Territories and Native Wildlife!  We will Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information about the similarities and differences between plants, animals, and habitats found within geographic regions (Blue Ridge Mountains, Piedmont, Coastal Plains, Valley and Ridge, and Appalachian Plateau) of Georgia.  We will also meet an eastern screech owl, and eastern indigo snake and G the gopher tortoise!  This event caters to those in K-5th grades but all are welcome to come to meet the animals.
