FAQS:
What is a Pamilya?
- Pamilya is the Tagalog word for “Family”
- Each Pamilya is comprised of one officer, 2-8 Kuyas and Ates, and a group of about 10-15 Adings (also known as a “Pam” for short)
What is a Kuya or Ate?
- Kuya is the Tagalog phrase for “big brother” & Ate is the Tagalog phrase for “big sister”
- Kuyas and Ates may choose up to 5 adings (flexible)
Why be a Kuya or Ate?
- Super Duper Fun!
- Leadership Experience (very resume-able B)
- Develop more connections and deeper personal relationships with many adings (NON-ROMANTIC!)
- Contribute to the biggest organization on campus and impact the next generation
- Bragging Rights
What is a Co?
- As a Kuya or ate, your fellow Kuyas and Ates are your cos
- Whereas if you are an Ading, your other fellow Adings are your cos
What is an Ading?
- Ading is the Ilocano phrase for “younger sibling”
- Can also be substituted with the word “Bunso” in Tagalog
-
Freshmen and new members must be Adings, returning Sophmore-Juniors allowed to be Kuyas/Ates/Adings! Senior Adings allowed ONLY if they are NEW members
ADING PROTECTION PROGRAM:
- In the event a Pamilya becomes inactive or issues arise in the Pamilya, Adings will be allowed to fill out a form to be placed in a new Pamilya AFTER the Third General FSA Meeting
- Do not take offense to it; if your Ading(s) fill out this form, be mature and don't let your Adings feel any tensions between your Pamilya and them (this is a safe space!)
- It is NOT a way to get the Adings you wanted
- Just because an Ading fills out a form, that does NOT mean they’ll be put into your pam
- If your Ading(s) do fill out a form, please do not be discouraged! Just another reason to make your pam even better!
They're signing up to do this for a reason. It’s entirely voluntary so they will only fill out the Ading Protection Form if they are uncomfortable, have issues, or are placed into an inactive Pamilya (PLEASE RESPECT THEIR CHOICES!)
