Please note that the Cosplay Parade is subject to the general Overload 2021 Cosplay Policy:
- Genuine fictional military characters may be cosplayed on the conditions that:
- Costumes do not cause distress to attendees by significantly resembling any present-day or past real-world militia.
- Costumes are immediately recognizable as the character it represents.
- Assessment of criteria will be entirely at the discretion of Overload staff. You may be asked to remove or reconfigure/alter
your costume to comply with rules for attendance.
- Overload is a family-friendly event so costumes must remain family-friendly. Overload Staff reserve the right to request to turn away inappropriate costumes or require modification to align with rules.
- Props
- Props should not be more than 2m in height and 1.2m in width and not weigh more than 5kg.
- Please consider the material your prop is made of. Props must not be likely to damage anything, harm anyone or create a
mess.
- Weapon props
Overload defines a weapon prop as any item which looks like a weapon or a commonplace item which could be used as a weapon e.g. a baseball bat.
- No authentic real-world weapons of any sort will be allowed.
- No item which significantly resembles a real-world weapon will be allowed. If it is not immediately obvious that your weapon
prop is not being a real-world weapon, it will not be permitted.
- Weapon props made of safe materials such as foam, plastic, fabric, rubber, lightweight wood or MDF may be permitted.
- A weapon prop should be designed to break before it would cause injury should it inadvertently strike anyone.
- You must attach a bright orange tag/tape or stopper to the barrel or point of your weapon props to ensure they are publicly
identifiable as props.
- Staff in the ticketing booth will examine your weapon props. They have sole discretion to approve weapon props and may
revoke that approval at anytime if any weapon prop is altered or used inappropriately.
