Om toch meer scheikunde in de praktijk te zien heeft de LEC een korte lezing met excursie georganiseerd omtrent het onderwerp MRI. Een MRI- en CT specialist van Siemens zal ons van alles vertellen over de technische aspecten van MRI en hoe de afbeeldingen tot stand komen door middel van magneetvelden, radiogolven en andere aspecten van NMR. Hierna zullen we een MRI scanner kunnen bekijken bij het VUmc onder begeleiding van een klinisch fysicus die ook wat zal uitleggen over de scanner zelf.

The LEC has arranged a short lecture and excursion to see more of chemistry in practice, specifically in the medical field. An MRI- and CT-specialist of Siemens will tell us all about the technical aspects of MRI and how the images are created through magnetic fields, radio waves and other aspects of NMR. After this short lecture we will be able to see an MRI scanner in the VUmc, where a clinical physicist will tell us more about the MRI scanner itself.
