You were always a people person. In the city you live, you have always had a lot of acquaintances and a small group of close friends. Your whole life, you have always been regarded as a person that can be trusted, and your friends have always said how lucky they are to have such a reliable person as their friend. You have always been there for them, and they appreciate that. Although these social relationships have helped you with your challenges  growing up, as you are getting older you have started to feel a little bit inadequate within the company of your closest friends. It is not their fault, you just feel as though you have started to fall behind because of your greatest obstacle in life: YOU ARE REALLY BAD AT MATHS. Recently, you have noticed that the conversations with your friends have started to become more serious. They are starting to talk more and more about future, getting a job, paying a rent, buying the stuff they want, managing their budget, and matters like that. These are things that you know very little about, and you have always had troubles with numbers and calculations, which has weighed significantly on your self-confidence. Suddenly, you receive a text message from your friends: “Meet us for coffee in 40 minutes at the bar”. You feel angry at yourself because it took you quite a while to calculate when you are supposed to arrive at the bar and you are still not sure if you did it right. Well, you can always be “fashionably late”, right?
Birthday surprise
Due to some kind of miracle, you managed to arrive just in time. You enter the bar, and…SURPRISE!!!! Your friends are throwing you a surprise party because it’s your birthday! You are not sure how you managed to forget that it is your birthday,  AGAIN!  You try to push away this thought, as you are delighted at this thoughtful surprise. In an instant, you feel so happy seeing all of your dearest friends congratulating you, so you shout: “These coffees are on me!” Just as you say that, you remember that you don’t know if you have the money to pay for it. You do have some money in your wallet, but will it be enough? Your mood diminishes instantly, and you begin to panic. To escape the storm in your head, you turn to the friend on your right and ask: “I’m not sure what everybody ordered so… what do you think this round of coffee will cost me?” She glances the table and calculates the sum. Good. You have enough money. Disaster avoided.
