2020 Funding Pitch Competition for Creatives Entry Form
This form is for application to enter the Funding Pitch Competition for Creatives. The competition is geared towards creatives in the visual, performing, literary, and media arts.  Past winners have included photographers, theater producers, multi-media artists, event managers, and more. This year, participants are able to select a specified amount of funding for something specific rather than pitch an entire business or business concept. Prizes:
- $2,500 minimum prize pool to be distributed at judges discretion between finalists
- Applicants will be able to select the amount of funding they are requesting: $100, $250, $500, and $1,000.
Eligibility:
- The competition is open to all students who are enrolled in at least one course at the undergraduate or graduate level during the 2019-20 academic year. *High School students are also eligible to enter but must also have a letter of endorsement from a teacher or administrator.
- You do not have to have started a business to enter. Your pitch can be for funding for an idea that you have.
- There should be some arts/creative component to the work that the funding would go towards supporting.
Important Dates
- January 31st, 2020 at 11:59 PM CST - Entry deadline
- February 8th - Notification of acceptance sent to email address provided on this form no later than 11:59 PM CST. It is your responsibility to check your email.
- February 22nd - Pitch Workshops held during the conference
- February 23rd - Finalists pitch live during the conference
- February 23rd - Winners announced at the closing session (Approx. 2 PM)
Submission Process:
- All submissions require a faculty or administrator contact at your school. We strongly encourage you to work closely with them on your submission. High school submissions also require a letter of support from a teacher or administrator. This letter should be emailed to info@selfemploymentinthearts.com
- A complete submission includes this completed form. No additional materials are required (with the exception of a faculty letter for High School students)

Your Pitch:
This year we have lengthened the amount of time you have to pitch from 90 seconds to up to 3 minutes. Please note that you can use any amount of time you wish up to 3 minutes. If you prefer a shorter pitch, that is fine. Regardless of the length of your pitch, the judges will have up to 5 minutes to ask questions.

Participation Agreement:
By participating in the competition you agree to the following:
- You allow SEA to tape and photograph the live pitches for SEA promotional purposes
- If you are awarded a financial prize, you will need to fill out a W-9 so that your check can be processed and mailed out to you. W-9 forms will be available at the SEA registration table during the conference. Checks will be mailed out from North Central College. Please allow 3 weeks for processing.
- If selected as a finalist, you must register and attend the SEA Conference to be eligible to participate in the pitch competition. Pitches will be live on Sunday, February 23rd. All finalists will receive free admission to the event. However, finalists are responsible for their own transportation including but not limited to lodging, parking, and ground transportation.
- Whether chosen as a finalist or not, you are encouraged to attend one of the pitch workshops held on Saturday, February 22nd during the SEA Conference

Honor Statement:
By submitting in this application, I the “Participant” state that all information provided is accurate and that I am the sole owner or creator of this business unless otherwise stated above. I also agree to use any prize money towards the business or creation of the business stated in this submission. I understand that prize money is not to be used to pay off any student loans or for any products, services, or activities not associated with the business stated in this application. If I win, after 6 months I will provide SEA with a statement of how funds were used. I also agree that my pitch may be shared by SEA as an example for future participants.
