"How to improve the citizen science projects for optimizing its use for scientists."
Dr. Samuel Pinya Fernández
Citizen Science constitutes a powerful tool to compile different types of information among different science branches in order to produce valuable knowledge. This information is mostly taken by amateur people. Nevertheless, not all the information is taken properly or it is completely valid and so it cannot be used by scientific community.
In this workshop we will analyze the pros and cons of different existing citizen science projects trying to reach which improvements can be applied in order to increase the quality of the information obtained by these projects. Besides, it will be presented a new regional citizen science project launched by the University of the Balearic Islands named Biodibal. Nowadays it considered the largest biodiversity accessible database of the Balearic Islands with 1.186.885 observations of about 10.800 different species.
The workshop will take place in the room located in the Institut Menorquí d'Estudis (Camí des Castell, num. 28).
