Reproductive Health and Prevention and Control of Disease Instruction
Dear Parent or Guardian:

This school year your child will receive Comprehensive Health Education as part of the Flagler Schools’ overall health education curriculum.

Flagler Schools acknowledges that parents/guardians are the primary sexuality educators for their child/ children and we are committed to partnering with you to provide supplementary resources to support you in this role.

Parents/ guardians have the right to opt your child out of any portion of the school district’s comprehensive health education required under 1003.42 (2) (n) that relates to sex education instruction in acquired immune deficiency syndrome education or any instruction regarding sexuality. Parents may also review any of the materials being used for these lessons. Parents can contact the District office at (386) 437-7526 to make an appointment to review the content.

While opting out of instruction is an option, students and families need to understand that opting out of instruction will not opt them out of any related questions that may be on the Florida Biology End of Course Exam given in May 2024 to all Biology, Biology Honors, Pre-IB Biology, and Pre-AICE Biology Students.

Please complete the opt-out form if you wish to opt your child out of any portion of the comprehensive health.

If you choose to not opt your child out of the instruction, no action is required.
