Dr Suma Sarojini is currently working as Associate Professor in the Department of Life Sciences, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bangalore. She holds a PhD in Biotechnology from Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, a DBT research institute.

 Though her main research interests lie in the field of bacterial genomics and microbial biotechnology in which she is guiding many research students, she is passionate on the approach towards a sustainable environment. She has been offering courses on Sustainable Environmental Management for non Science students too for creating awareness on the need to save Mother Earth.

She has collaborations with international NGOs like parvati.org, a Canadian NGO in a project MAPS (Marine Arctic Peace Sanctuary), intended to save the Arctic region from extensive commercialization thereby deteriorating not only the Arctic but also the entire planet’s weather patterns.

She has conducted petition signature drives and camps for the cause of MAPS and has delivered many talks and written newspaper articles on this domain. She has been nominated as one of the global MAPS ambassadors by the NGO to propagate the cause of saving the Arctic and getting more public attention for the same.
