                                              SEMESTER COURSE SELECTIONS                                                                        
                                                                        Art
This course provides students with an exploration of artists, art history, vocabulary, techniques and materials to illustrate their skills and understanding of art. We will continue to build on their understanding of the elements and principles of art as they relate to their artwork. Students will create both two and three dimensional artwork.

                                                                      Chorus
This class is an introduction to choir. Students will learn about the fundamentals of singing, various genres or styles of music, and how to become a better musician. They will also have the opportunity to perform in various concerts and a few field trips as well. Students enrolled in this class may not participated in our Busch Gardens Festival Tour or our All County Chorus, but will be able to participate in all other events or performances attended by the class.

                                                            Creative Dramatics (Drama)
This course will study dramatic forms or speech, stage movement, improvisation and theatre history.

                                                                Digital Literacy
This class will familiarize the students with internet safety, digital footprints and online ethics. Keyboarding and basic word processing will familiarize the students with the workings of the computer, correct posture, building keyboarding techniques, speed and accuracy.  Students will learn about basic and business correspondence.

                                                 Computer Science Discoveries I
Students will use a problem-solving process to address a series of puzzles, challenges, and real-world scenarios. They will learn how computers input, output, store, and process information to help humans solve problems. Students will also learn how to create and share the content on their own web pages using HTML and CSS. They will also practice valuable programming skills such as debugging, using resources, and teamwork.

                                           
                                Introduction to Spanish (Prerequisite for Spanish I in 8th grade)
Students in this course develop a solid and comprehensive foundation in the the four basic communication skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) with a thematic focus on adolescents' lives, needs and experiences in the United States and abroad. Students are encouraged to use these skills outside the classroom. Students are introduced to Spanish culture through games, foods and celebrations as well as through readings, discussions and projects. The course addresses the five national Standards for Foreign Language Learning: communications, cultures, connections, comparisons and communities

                                                 YEAR LONG COURSES                                      
                                       Band II (Must have taken band in 6th grade)
Band is a musical class where students play either a wind or a percussion instrument. Students who sign up for Band II must have played for at least one year AND passed Band I in 6th grade with a 70% or have director approval. Band II consists of a daily elective class, several concerts throughout the year, 7th and 8th grade pep band for TMS football games, parades and a spring festival performance. Students might also be eligible to audition for All-State Band and/or All-County Band.

                                                         Orchestra II
This course is available to students who have played the violin, viola, cello or bass for a least one year AND received a 70% or higher in 6th Grade Orchestra or director approval. Students will participate in concerts at school, in the community, state festivals, and special competitions. Students might also be eligible to audition for All-State Orchestra and/or All-County Orchestra.
