Currently, Dr. Furst has two open PhD positions, to start June or August 2024. The primary responsibilities of the positions are to lead research on PFAS fate and transport in drinking water and wastewater reuse systems while completing the requirements for the PhD degree in Civil, Environmental and Infrastructure Engineering (CEIE). Both projects involve laboratory work, fieldwork and computational components. The positions are supported with up to five years of funding, with renewal contingent upon performance.
The Furst Water Systems Chemistry Lab conducts research across multiple domains of water quality engineering, with the primary goal of achieving equitable access to safe drinking water. The Furst Lab is located at the scenic Potomac Science Center, an interdisciplinary hub for environmental research.
