Code of conduct
No 56 (V) Sqn, though it exists for us as a relaxing pastime, expects the highest level of personal conduct from its members when it comes to the flight sim community. We maintain an inclusive and welcoming club for all members in good standing with no exceptions, regardless of religion, sex, gender, race, age, nationality, sexual orientation, or disabled status.

We also establish and abide by a system of leadership roles, activity statuses, and flight assignments that reflects the historical organization of the unit during WWI (to the extent that is practical and still fun). This hierarchy is purely functional, and it must always be remembered that, as mere hobbyists, we are ultimately all equals.

With regard to social interactions, every squadron member must:
    • Exhibit unimpeachable honor, integrity, and sportsmanship in all matters.
    • Cultivate friendships (or at least friendly relations) with fellow squadron members.
    • Help new recruits find their footing in the squadron with patience.
    • Respect others in the flight sim community and avoid useless controversies.
    • Resolve any interpersonal disputes in a mature, peaceful, and timely manner.
    • Follow decisions made by those serving in leadership roles in the squadron.
    • Fulfill voluntary squadron obligations expeditiously.
    • Value the opinions of every squadron member if acting in any leadership position.
    • Participate regularly in squadron events, preferably weekly (though real life comes first).
    • Forego membership in other virtual squadrons within the WWI flight sim community.
    • Respect the confidentiality of any private squadron information entrusted to members.

With regard to flight sim operations, every squadron member must:
    • Protect fellow squadron mates in virtual combat, even by risking one’s own virtual life.
    • Absolutely never, ever cheat in any way, even supposedly “minor” offenses.
    • Never vulch, shoulder-shoot, steal kills, ram opponents, or swarm lone pilots.
    • Resolve virtual duels chivalrously, allowing a terribly-damaged opponent to flee.
    • Abide by agreed-upon realism and immersion standards in all aspects of operations.

Consequences for breaking the code of conduct will vary appropriately based on type of offense, degree of offense, and prior violations. For minor violations, verbal or written warning(s) will generally first be issued. For repeated offenses or major violations, consequences could include demotion in activity status, removal from leadership roles, enforcement of probation, and finally discharge from the squadron. These rules, restrictions, and consequences exist to create a virtual squadron environment where everyone can feel welcome, have fun, and positively contribute to the flight sim community at large.
I have read AND agree to abide by the squadron code of conduct above, if accepted as a member: *
