Ideas must be related to Immersion, Research, or Professional Development
in civil engineering. Awards will
first be based on Relevance to Civil Engineering and then on Societal Significance, Feasibility of Proposal, and Contribution to Student Development. (Housing for internships is not generally funded.) Applications are reviewed as they are submitted. After the experience, each awardee will submit a 1-2 page summary of the knowledge gained from the experience. Each student is limited to 1 award each year with a maximum of $1000 for travel for individual and $1,500 for travel for the whole class. As the endowment grows, these values may increase.
Examples include but are not limited to these:
Immersion:

Research:
Materials for unfunded research with a faculty member
Materials for independent research
Travel for independent research
Travel to present research findings at regional and national conferences
Professional Development:
