OJHS Stage and Tech Crew Application Process 2020-2021 School Year

For the 2020-2021 school year, Orem Jr will have both Backstage Crew and Tech Crew in the Stage Crew Class. Stage Crew is an introduction to stage technology, construction and design. Students involved in the Stage Crew class will prepare, build, and run Orem Jr’s play productions and other assemblies and performances.
If you are a part of the Tech Crew you are REQUIRED to take both semesters of the Stage Crew class. As a Tech Crew member you are required to run the Tech booth for all school events including play performances, assemblies, concerts and rentals. You will get paid on Tech Crew for events worked.
Stage Crew students, both Tech Crew and Backstage Crew, are held to high expectations in both their work and behavior. Experience in theatre, building, sewing, art, lighting, sound, or leadership is helpful, but responsibility and a strong desire to learn and excel in stage technology are the most important qualities Stage Crew students must have.

To apply for Orem Jr’s Backstage Crew (Year Long Class) you will need to complete the following steps:

Be an 8th or 9th grader in 2020-2021 school year

Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.1

Type a 200 to 250 word essay telling Ms. Johnson why you want to be involved in Orem Jr’s Tech Crew, why you are qualified to be a part of Tech Crew and why you would be an asset to the crew. Take pride in your writing and grammar. Email this to Ms. Johnson at jessicabjohnson@alpinedistrict.org
