All students intending to participate in Variety Show, including those in group numbers, need to complete this form individually. Siblings in the same act, please submit separate forms for legal purposes.

All questions are required to have a response. If a short-answer question does not apply to you, simply write N/A.

ALL ABOUT YOUR ACT
What type of act are you doing? *
5th Grade Emcee- If you are auditioning as a 5th Grade Emcee, please be aware that up to 4 students will be selected to Emcee on the stage. Several students will be selected to fill the roles of usher and stage manager. A script will be provided at auditions for you to read to showcase your emcee skills. *
Group Participants- If you're doing a group number, list the names of the other participants. Groups cannot have more than 6 students. *

Required
If your act requires music/sound track, it must be edited and submitted before you audition. To submit your music, email it as a digital sound file to mckinleyvarietyshow@gmail.com. *
List any and all other supplies that you are providing for your act (i.e. musical instruments, props, extra sound amps, etc). These items need to be brought to your audition. *
Describe your performance clothing/costume. You're encouraged to bring/wear it to the audition. Costumes must be ready for Dress Rehearsal by Friday, March 18. *
Outdoor Performance- Our venue is outdoors at the JUP. Students must be prepared to perform on both blacktop and grassy surfaces and take into account how wind, sun, warmer and cooler temperatures might influence their performance. *
Show Theme - "We Rise Together" is this year's show theme. Your act does not have to relate directly to the theme. However, all acts MUST be appropriate for a family audience and in harmony with school rules and values. This includes lyrics, overall message of lyrics, script, dance moves, images, etc. *
Time Limit- Solo acts must be 1 minute or less. Please make your act fit this time limit BEFORE the auditions. Solo acts longer than 1 minute cannot be admitted into the show until they have been properly edited. *
Time Limit- Group acts must be 2 minutes or less. Please make your act fit this time limit BEFORE the auditions. Group acts longer than 2 min cannot be admitted into the show until properly edited. *
IMPORTANT DATES
Audition Sign Ups- Auditions are Thurs March 3 and Thurs March 10 from 12:30-3:00 pm. (early dismissal days). Students must sign up for an audition time on the google sheet called Variety Show Audition Sign-ups after completing this form. *
How will your child arrive to the auditions? *
Performance Ready - Students should be "performance ready" as much as possible at their AUDITION. Directors will allow performers to make needed adjustments to their act. However, if an act is still in the very early stages of preparation, directors may ask those students to only participate as audience members. *
Rehearsal Times- We rehearse W, TH, F March 16, 17 and 18 from 12:30-3:00 pm. (early dismissal days). March 16 and 17 will be used to review acts that need adjustments and work with student Emcees. March 18 is our Dress Rehearsal for the entire cast. *
How will your child arrive to the rehearsals? *
Performance Date- The performance is Sat, March 19 at 3:00 pm. Cast call time at 2:40 pm. Students must arrive in their costume with everything they need to perform. Students need to have a parent/guardian on site throughout this event. *
Parent Volunteers- The Variety Show is run entirely by parent volunteers, and we could use your help! Below are jobs that we need filled. Please select all that you are willing to help with, and we will reach out to you about more details. *

AGREEMENTS & RELEASE FORMS
Photo Release- The Variety Show parent volunteers will take cast photos, candid photos and videos during rehearsals and the show. Photos will be used in various platforms, including but not limited to hallway bulletin boards, the Families of McKinley Elem Facebook page, and the school yearbook. Do you agree to have your child's photo taken for the above purposes? *
Video Release- Variety Show parent volunteers may take videos of the students rehearsing and performing. Video(s) will be shared digitally on a private platform for the families to view. Do you agree to have your child's video taken? *
School Release of Liability- Variety Show is not run or managed by McKinley Elem School Staff or San Diego Unified School District. This event does not take place on the school or SDUSD property. Rather, it is run by parent volunteers at the Joint Use Park when the park is open to the public. *
Covid Rules & Agreement- Students and parent volunteers must wear masks at all times, unless they are on stage and 6 feet distance from other performers, or drinking/eating and 6 feet distance from others. Those who are not mask compliant will not be able to participate in Variety Show. Students and parent volunteers that are sick or have tested positive for Covid-19 must not attend Variety Show auditions, rehearsal or show until they have been cleared to attend public events by a health professional. *
Covid-19 Release of Liability- Variety Show has taken enhanced health and safety measures to provide a safe environment for students and families, and asks that all participants follow all Covid-19 safety measures. Notwithstanding our efforts, an inherent risk of exposure to Covid-19 exists in any public place where vaccinated and unvaccinated people are present; we cannot guarantee that your family will not be exposed during your participation in the Variety Show. *
Behavior Agreement- Students must be respectful and kind to the Variety Show directors, parent helpers and other students. They must respect the property of the park, Variety Show equipment and other's belongings. Students that do not show respect will face disciplinary measures. If a student's behavior is threatening the safety and well-being of other participants or property involved with Variety Show, they will be removed from the show. *
